"Ol' Diz" put a little something extra on this ball, probably about eighty-some years ago when he was starring for the famous "Gashouse Gang" St. Louis Cardinals team. In this case, that something extra is an autograph prized by advanced collectors. Offered is a "Dizzy" Dean (d.1974) single-signed baseball that looks to be an early 1930s type based on the red and blue stitching and partial factory stamping that are consistent with the period. Coated with a protective layer of shellac and tape, Dean's signature is located on a side panel of this ancient orb and shows bold ("8") quality, with the main body of the autograph very pronounced and just the upper loops a bit thinner. The ball is moderately toned and rates as (VG) with a few small abrasions that have no impact on this fairly tough HOFer autograph. Auction LOA from JSA.
