There’s a short window of 1955-1967, that the Athletics baseball franchise called Kansas City home. Deemed to be a 1960s version, the offered pennant makes an exuberant display reminiscent of the elation the mid-west town felt when granted an MLB team. This remarkably well-preserved example shows (NM+) quality with deference to typical pinholes on the accent strip at the wide end and loss of most the upper tassels. The deep blue background is clean and very rich with original color, the white team nickname lettering is full with no cracks discernible to the naked eye and the applique of a cartoonish elephant with bat balanced on “KC” letters emerging from a stadium is equally bold and attractive. Noted as rare, this full-size 29” flag flies high as a truly handsome example from a fleeting period.
