Posting just the second winning campaign in their 15-year history, the 1984 San Diego Padres made an improbable NLCS comeback to bring the World Series to the Mission Valley for the first time ever. Issued in limited quantities to players, coaches and team personnel members, examples of this Hillerich & Bradsby World Series black bat are among the most poignant reminders of Fall Classic glory. Measuring 35” with a glossy black “Smith” finish, the October memento features gold-colored facsimile signature stampings of those who were under contract with H&B (and block-letter stampings of those who wielded “other” weaponry). Among the (40) names are Gossage, Gwynn, Show, Wiggins and D. Williams. The smooth surface and radiant stampings combine to prompt (EX-MT) assessment.
